Pom Poms: Yay Or Nay?!
Pom poms seem to be popping up on everything from bedspreads to lampshades. I must confess I'm liking it. If the whimsical detailing is not overdone, pom poms can add a playful touch to any room. Take a look at few of my favorite 'pom pommed' items:

This Time Last Year: The Biggest Littlest House Renovation Ever
This time last year, I took on the biggest littlest house renovation ever: my childhood dollhouse. Soon after transporting it home from my parents' house, "I'm A Giant Challenge" began and I got into it big time. I decided to decorate it like our actual house, not even realizing that we would be moving out of it in 6 months time. Recently, the kids noticed the dollhouse in the garage and were fondly reminded of their Cambridge home. I've since taken the miniature house indoors and hope to continue working on it. I sense that the rooms that were unfinished will take the look of our current California style. Below are a few images of the big rooms that inspired the small ones.
A Moving Mode note: Since the move, our new house has always felt like home, not necessarily because of its contents, but because as a family, we're a strong unit that's happy together regardless of our location. During these last few weeks, however, California itself began feeling like home and I'm really excited to feel that way about it again.
Follow The Move: Zoe's Bedroom Reveal
In the (sort of) DIY Navajo bedspread post, I promised to show you the rest of Zoe's bedroom. Having shared a room with her twin brothers for almost 4 years, Zoe is finally in her very own space and loving every inch of it. I worried that she would be reluctant to sleep alone but she took to her own bedroom with unapologetic gusto. Repurposing her old bed and dresser, adding a vintage lamp find from the Alameda Flea market, and throwing in a few free spirited details (such as a crayon-friendly wall), Zoe's room now reflects her warm, creative and loving personality. Instant Vintage: The Polaroid Picture
Our kids have become enamored with the Polaroid camera that recently resurfaced as a result of our move. As my husband and I showed our children how to use it, we were reminded of many past Polaroid moments we treasured as a family. I love that our children will get to experience the excitement and anticipation of taking a Polaroid picture. Nowadays, with photographs rarely printed and images often photoshopped to unattainable perfection, the graininess of a Polaroid photo is a visual treat reflecting a brief moment in time.
I wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving replete with many unforgettable Polaroid moments!
Botanical Inspiration: Succulents
It didn't take long for me to head back to my new favorite spot for a botanical inspiration. On this visit, I bought a concrete vessel and lots of succulents to fill it. The planter sits on our courtyard table and fits in perfectly with its surroundings. Take a look:
