The Way We Live: A Unique Boston Loft
Bold art, colorful textiles and a myriad of eclectic personal touches create a home that is uniquely elegant, modern and chic. A renovated kitchen by Kochman Reidt and Haigh and a 3D mural by Caroline Dechamby are some of the recent additions to a collection of furnishings and accessories that have traveled with the owner through several continents and many homes. Today I'll share with you this Boston loft's main living area and next week we'll look at the master bedroom, appointed with modern comforts and touches of classic glamour much like the rest of this amazing space.
Thank you MP for sharing your beautiful home with our Cocoon Home blog readers.
Out And About: Yayla Tribal Rugs
In search of floor coverings for our California house, my husband and I dropped in at Yayla Tribal Rugs to go through piles of colorfully patterned and intricately detailed carpets in hopes to find the ones destined to make the trip West with us. A very patient and knowledgeable sales team (with some really strong arms), provides the potential buyers with lessons in history, craftsmanship and philanthropy. Take a look at some of our favorites and stay posted for the rug reveal, when the two we picked take center stage.
Can anyone guess which two are coming to California with us?!
Below are photos taken by Cambridge photographer Kristen Emack. It just so happened that she was snapping shots of rugs at Yayla the same week we were shopping for some. Thank you, Kristen, for sharing your artful images with Cocoon Home.
Honey And Vinyl
We spent our last night before our move with neighbors extracting honey to the tunes of Al Green on vinyl. With high anxieties and fragile emotions it was exactly what the family needed to get our minds off the change ahead. The sweet smell of honey, the bitter taste of beer and the sound of a turntable made for a perfect last night in Cambridge. Take a look a few images from a memorable evening.
Thank you LB & MT.
For the next month while we await the arrival of our belongings at our new home, the kids and I will be spending time in New Jersey with family then heading up to Maine with friends for one last East Coast hooray. Our one-way tickets to California are booked for July 27th.
I'm looking forward to our adventures but am anxious to get our West Coast life started.
Out And About: Hudson Boston
This week's Out And About features another favorite South End shop: Hudson. Artfully merchandised home accessories, textiles, vintage items and furniture pieces create a home store that uniquely combines traditional New England style with contemporary flair. Along with foundation lines from Oly and Bungalow 5, owner Jill Goldberg masterfully curates seasonal items to keep the shop current and interesting. Each visit to this delightful store guarantees I'll find a new 'must-have', either for a client or for myself. Take a look at a few of my latest favorites:
I'm thinking that the carpet covered stools (in the first photo) would look fantastic in our California home. What items are you coveting?!
Hudson is located at 12 Union Park Street in Boston
