Jonas Lonborg's Pinecone Inspired Lights
I first caught a glimpse of Jonas Lonborg's pinecone lights on the D-Pages blog. I was struck with their shape, size and detail. Seeing a pinecone interpreted as a chandelier confirms just how intricate this seed pod really is. To see more prototypes click here.
Sensual, Supple and Graceful: Rodin
My favorite Paris memory was of our visit to the Musee Rodin. His sculptures, ever so sensual, supple and graceful left a permanent mark on my psyche. Walking through the museum was a magical experience. I became overcome with emotion, not only by his sculptures, but by the space they occupied as well. Detailed moldings, grand chandeliers, patinaed mirrors and ornate mantels set a dramatic stage for Rodin's masterpieces meant to move the most stoic of visitors.
A Grand Summer So Far
I've just returned from spending a week in a very quiet and secluded spot in Maine. Right before that I spent a very stimulating week in Paris. Traveling both with and without our children has given me a wonderful opportunity to enjoy time alone with them, with my husband .....and with myself. This could be the best summer yet. I'm anxious to share my favorite sights and shops from both Maine and Paris. For now take a peek at some of the highlights:
I hope you're all having as wonderful a summer as I am thus far.......
Off The Counter: A Seasonal Obsession
This weeks' Off The Counter features my current seasonal obsession: fiddleheads, the furled fronds of a young fern. They experience a very short season so now is the time to enjoy them. An unusual addition to the plate, their curly shape and dense texture add a flavor only Spring can offer. Ingredients and instructions below.
fiddleheads, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon
Toss fiddleheads with olive oil, crushed garlic, salt and pepper in a pan and grill for 4-5 minutes (don't let them burn). Add addition olive oil (if needed ) and the grated lemon rind.
Enjoy!!
