Heath Ceramics Is: Southern At The Table

Last night was the opening of Heath Ceramics' Southern At the Table event, which celebrates southern culture, design and food.   The evening brought together culinary talents that served sliders, gumbo, BBQ oysters, and chicken wings (all super yummy).  Heath's showroom was filled with hand sewn textiles for the table by Alabama Chanin, a dinnerware collaboration with Natalie Chanin, and many other regional treats.  Take a look at a few images from the evening:

Congratulations  Heath Ceramics, Southern Foodways Alliance and La Cocina for a successful event and for bringing awareness to your cause.  Click here and here to learn more.

Out And About: Observatory

Artist Nicole Rueda Watts of NYX Studio created a theatrical setting to showcase her handcrafted jewelry in her new shop:  Observatory (located in Cambridge, MA).   I was very excited to come across it while visiting the East coast.  At first, I was drawn to its mid-century furniture and accessories, but upon entering the shop, the feathers, beads and intricate wiring of Nicole’s jewelry collection really got my attention.  She displays them so artfully, that not only her talent as a jewelry designer stands out, but also her skills as an innovative merchandiser.  Take a look at few images I captured while there, I know they will make you want to stop in.

After a month-long trip along the Northeast, we have returned to our home in California [happily so!].  I'm looking forward to sharing another favorite store from our travels with you, one that became the inspiration for an East coast project.

Stay posted for more of our adventures!

Out And About: Floret

This week's Out And About features Floret, a new floral shop in Lafayette, CA.  The shop is filled with unique stemmed botanicals, plantings and vessels, all of which may be custom arranged for any occasion.  Take a peek into Floret:

We're pleased to announce that Floret is also featuring several Cocoon Home succulent compositions.

A Most Relaxing Birthday Weekend At Wilbur Hot Springs

To celebrate my birthday Alex and I spent the weekend at Wilbur Hot Springs.  Since our last visit was over 13 years, our return to the hotel was both nostalgic and renewing.   A few things have changed since our last stay, but the effect of Wilbur's mineral rich waters and serene landscape remained the same.  At this retreat, one can't help feeling completely relaxed in mind and body.  Take a look at a few images from our weekend.

We went to the springs with the intent of celebrating my birthday, but in essence we celebrated our return to California.  We are so happy to be back.

Thank you Babik for hosting the kiddies so we could spend time alone and to Alex for making this amazing weekend happen.  I love you both so much!

Out And About: Farmyard Darlings

Tucked away among an array of lovely plants at Mt. Diablo Nursery lives Farmyard Darlings, this week's Out And About featured shop.  Upon entering the space one is immediately greeted by two very warm-hearted and high spirited women:  Carole Sinclair and Kim Berry, founders and creative forces behind FYDs.  Their love for vintage finds and rustic collectibles comes together seamlessly in this shop.  They stock it with custom designed and repurposed items reminiscent of the Old West.  Take a look at how they've  honed down a unique niche while staying true to their vision.
