Before and After-Master Bed and Bathroom Demo
This past weekend was the start of our master bed and bathroom renovation. It started with a boom and ended with lots of dust, soot, and debris. Thanks to the help of my father, some brave friends and my husband our project is well under way. Take a look at some before and after photos of the demo stage.
About two weeks ago the door to our roof deck literally fell off its hinges. I came home and found lying in the middle of the deck. Great timing. It will be replaced with a sliding door to allow lots of light to flow in.
So the rest of house remains in tact but the faint smell of dust lingers. We are all excited to update our 1850 Greek Revival home. This renovation will complete the house. We've done just about all we can do to it structurally but when it comes to decorating, that never ends. I'll keep you posted with the construction progress and my vision for it when it’s done. I feel another color obsession coming on.
Till Monday
This weeks Till Monday image comes to you from my very own home. After months of planning and re-planning the demolition for a new master bed and bathroom is going to begin tomorrow morning. Dust, dust, dust. You can never prepare enough for this type of work. So for the next 6-8 weeks a family of 5 will be sleeping together in the basement (a very cozy and stylish one). I'm looking forward to it all...bunking with the kids, seeing the design take shape and even the dust. I'll send along some before and after photos of the demo on Monday. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!
Before and After: Family Furniture Gets a New Look
Cocoon Home Design recently helped re-upholster several pieces of furniture that were in a client's family for generations. With that in mind we wanted to maintain the integrity of the pieces but update them with interesting fabrics. Above are the fabrics we chose. Below are the before and afters.
The dining chairs are different styles so we decided to use different fabrics that worked well together. The frames of the chairs are traditional but the fabrics are not. Giving the room a bit of a twist. All the fabrics coordinate so that any future moves or renovations in the home won't affect the placement of the furniture. Next we are working on paint colors for the living room, dining room and reading room with the extra long lounge. We'll have more before and after photos soon. Let me know what you think.
