Out And About: Crimson Horticultural Rarities
This week's Out And About features Crimson a botanical shop located in Temescal Alley, Oakland. After hearing about it from Alex, I knew I had to check it out. With camera in hand I ventured in to find myself surrounded by an array of curiosities, plants and gifts all very artfully displayed. Customers continually filtered in and out of this unique shop. One could overhear plant talk, observe friends stopping by to say hello to its owners and chat with other newcomers admiring Crimson's wares. The energy was real and infectious. Take a look:
A Public Display of Gratitude
Outside a Portland, OR grocery store [we're here for the holiday] hangs a huge poster asking: What Are you Thankful For? While the kids added their reasons, Alex and I really took the time to read what others wrote. There was something quite sweet about reading what total strangers were thankful for. We realized that we all share similar needs and blessings in life. So whether it's out loud, to yourself or written somewhere: SAY what you are grateful for. Happy Thanksgiving!
Snap Shots: A Family Picnic
A late California afternoon was the setting for a recent family photo session. After deciding on a spot we threw down a blanket and began setting a picnic so that everyone [including me] could relax for the camera. I wanted to share a few shots with you. The rest of the photos have been well received by the family and some have even become Christmas cards!
Many thanks, AT and CT, for the opportunity to photograph your lovely family.
Room Inspiration: Our Home Office
Borrowing ideas from these 7 images, I put together this room inspiration for our home office makeover [which is almost finished]. The new look combines metals, textures and colors from different eras. The walls have been painted a metallic gold, the cabinet hardware has been replaced, a graphic rug has been added and two vintage leather & chrome chairs flank the built-in desk. I'm anxious to show it all to you, but we're still deciding on a few key details. The new look has already proven to be a productive and inspiring workspace for both Alex and me. Stay tuned for the big reveal.
Have you made any home improvements lately?
