'Til Monday
This week's 'Til Monday images are from one of my blog readers' homes. A previous 'Til Monday post about Graham and Brown wallpapers prompted her to search and find the perfect wall covering for her foyer. Take a look at how great it looks. I hope this post will inspire you to try something different in your space. Have a great weekend!
The paper was also hung in the back hallway giving depth to the entry.
Before and After-Living Room and Dining Room
While our master bedroom and bath renovation is slowly coming to an end (thank goodness!), I've been looking back at how much the house has changed since we bought it. Take a look at how it looked then and how it looks now....
The first floor of the house is really one large room separated into 3 areas with the dining area located in the middle. We used fedora FLOR tiles in both the living and kitchen sitting areas and same style sofas to keep the space balanced and uncluttered.
The floors were refinished and stained in a dark ebony. We used Benjamin Moore's Aura paint in Thunder for the walls and Atrium white for the trim.
The same wallpaper was used in both the kitchen sitting area and the living room to keep the flow of the space consistent. The dining room table was from Cocoon, the store. We primed and painted it the same color used for the trim. We don't have a designated art or play area for the kids, all their art projects take place on this table. The built-in cabinets hold books, magazines, games and art supplies. The kids can easily grab a box of crayons and paper and set up for some coloring. The beauty of this table is that can I get out the paint roller and pan and repaint it at anytime so it looks brand new again.
Art hanging in the window provides privacy while still allowing light to flow in.
Chandelier sconces from Brocade Home hang in both the front living room and back kitchen sitting area to give the space a whimsical, yet traditional touch. Mixing botanical prints and geometric patterns render the space modern but add a warmer edge to it. It's a completely functional space for our way of living: very child friendly without sacrificing style and substance.
I Love This Chair
I recently saw this chair at Zimman's, a fantastic fabric store that also has two floors of furniture upholstered in fabrics they stock. I love the fabric and the frame of this chair. The dark wood frame gives contrast to the the lighter tones in the fabric while the pattern in the fabric off sets the traditional frame. It would look great in a bedroom or living room. Let me know what you think?
Wallpaper Discovery
Whether you buy a new home or an older one, or even decide to renovate, there are always surprises. Some good, some bad and some plain fun, like this one. During a recent project , Cocoon Home Design found this amazingly cute wallpaper underneath one that we had had removed. We suspect this paper is about 75 years old. Very sweet vintage wallpaper for a charming children's bedroom.
