The Way We Work: Holly Bender Interiors

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with Holly Bender of Holly Bender Interiors here in Lafayette, CA.  During my visit we talked about design while I shopped her collection of art and vintage finds.  I found a perfect piece for my office AND I got to photograph her home office as well.  By combining lucite, mixed metals and patterns, pops of color and vintage [one of kind] pieces Holly created a work space that is sophisticated,  glamourous and functional.  Take a look:

Thank you, Holly, for sharing your inviting work space with Cocoon Home Blog readers.

The Way We Work: Vera Abud Interiors

It's with great pleasure that I share with you the atelier of interior stylist Vera Abud.  I've admired her style and approach to design and styling for a long time and am excited that she is now offering her talents to many through Vera Abud Interiors.  While visiting her and her family in CT,  we had the chance to talk about her new venture and to photograph her work space.  I love the way she combined Moroccan textiles, cowhides and brass accents to honor both traditional and modern design.

During our time together she showed me a project she's currently working on.  Needless to say, I brought my camera along so that I can show you what she's up to for future posts.  In the mean time, take a look at a past project here.  I'm sure you'll be hearing more about her.

The Way We Live: Details In Diamond Heights

Upon entering the space for the first time I was taken by the mood it induced.  Through carefully curated furniture pieces,  personal touches and the magnificent SF bay views (not always present as you may correctly assume) this Diamond Heights apartment is a prime example of how attention to detail makes all the difference.  Earthy tones, textured surfaces, ethnic touches and an eclectic furniture mix all contribute to this home's relaxing atmosphere.  Once in it, one feels super chilled, yet extremely inspired by the objects and view that surround one.

Many thanks to JB and DD for sharing your space with my readers and to your designer friend, Pasak Ongwattanagul, for helping to create it.    The great collection of furnishings and accessories prompted me to ask DD to reveal his favorite places to shop.  Take a look at that list below:

The Way WE Live: California Style

For this week's The Way We Live I decided to give you a small glimpse into our California life.  Since our move of almost a year ago, our house has begun to take on the California Style  we dreamt about.  By combining old and new pieces our home is becoming a loving mix of where we came from and where we are now.  Take a look at a short clip of one of our favorite rooms:

The Way We Live: From The Back Bay To The East Bay (Part 2)

When my husband and I decided on the move to California, it was a given that his Mom would make that journey with us.  After spending several months with us, she found  a place of her own and created a space that we all call home.  By repurposing most of her belongings (from Boston and other places she lived in), she was able to capture a sense of familiarity and nostalgia, while at the same time she embraced a less formal West Coast style with lots of botanicals, brighter colors and a mix of interesting textures.  Take a look at shots of her California home below and click here to see her space in the Back Bay.

My mother-in-law's approach to decorating is very different from mine, but together we offer a unique balance of beauty and practicality.  We have worked together professionally for many years creating spaces for our design clients that both reflect their aesthetic preferences and our own individual styles.
